  • Each new employee will go through the DCEMS Driver's Training Program before the start of the Field Training Internship Program.

  • Each new employee will work a total of seven (7) 12-hour shifts as an extra person in the Company prior to being allowed to operate in the capacity as a member of the Company on the Medic Unit (as a "fourth-person").  The shift will begin at 0600 hours and end at 1800 hours.  Additionally, all new employees must meet all of the requirements and expectations of the Field Training Internship Program BEFORE they will be allowed to function in the capacity as a member of the Company on the Medic Unit (as the "third-person").

  • Each new employee will be with an FTO for five (5) 12-hour shifts.

  • Each new employee will be with a Training Officer / Training Coordinator for one (1) 12-hour shift.  This shift will be at the beginning of their field training.

  • Each new employee must complete their Field Training Internship within sixty (60) days of orientation.

  • At the completion of, and no greater than six (6) months after, the Field Training Internship, each new employee will take a written test over the DCEMS Standard Operating Guidelines, DCEMS Patient Care Guidelines, and all applicable Delaware County Geographical maps.  The testing dates and locations will be determined by the Senior Command Staff, and all interns will be advised well in advance.
