Delaware County EMS Captain Brent Staley

Captain Staley graduated from Hocking College in Nelsonville in 1990, where he received his Paramedic and Firefighter II (240) certifications.  While there, he worked for Southeast Ohio EMS (SOEMS) Station #4.  

From October 1990 to April 1991, he worked  for Perry Township Fire Department in Dublin, Ohio, until he was hired by Mansfield Ambulance, in Mansfield, Ohio.  

From December 1988 until retiring in April 2010, he worked for Morrow County EMS, starting out as a basic EMT, then a paramedic and Station Captain in Mt. Gilead.  He was one of the first paramedics working for Morrow County EMS, and played a key role in the development of their EMS Supervisor Program..

He started as a volunteer for the Mt. Gilead Fire Department in Oct 1986, and has been until the present day.  In January 2006 the Mt. Gilead Fire Department went staffed in the day time (M-F) and he is currently an Engineer / as well as the Sr. Firefighter on 1 Unit days there.

Captain Staley began with Delaware County EMS in April of 1995 as a Paramedic, and was assigned as a floater on 2-unit.  He was transferred shortly thereafter to Station 1 on 3-unit.  

He was promoted to Crew Chief in December of 1996 at Medic 5 on 3-unit, and maintained that assignment until his promotion to EMS Supervisor in October of 2001.  He was promoted to Captain in 2004.

Captain Staley serves on the Central Ohio CISM Team,.  He holds certifications in ACLS, PALS, BTLS, CPR, EVO, CISM, Haz-Mat Ops, Haz-Mat for EMS, and has attended specialized Incident Command Training for Weapons of Mass Destruction at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama.

Captain Staley is married to Teresa Staley, who serves as the 911 Supervisor of Morrow County 911.  He has two daughters; Alissa and Kristin, and a son; Alex.  In his off time, he enjoys watching his daughters play softball, and son play baseball.
